Student Summit 2010
Iranian Alliances Across Borders (IAAB) is proud to present the second biennial Student Summit to be held November 5-7, 2010 at George Washington University in Washington, DC. The Student Summit aims to bring together university student leaders to develop leadership skills as individuals, members of student organizations, and as members of the Iranian diaspora community.
The Student Summit brings together university student leaders from around the country to promote committed communication amongst students, student groups, and organizations throughout the nation. Participants will leave with a sense of community, a deeper understanding of what it means to be a leader, and the necessary tools with which to actively engage in the Iranian diaspora community. The Summit will be comprised of speaker panels and small group workshops and is structured to focus on individual skills and management strategies in an atmosphere that encourages candid, open discussion and collaboration. Additionally, programming on Friday night and Saturday night will provide opportunities for students to socialize and connect on a personal level.
Workshops and panels will include, but are not limited to, leadership development, communication, coalition building, exploration of identity, and mobilization. Speakers will consist of top professionals in their fields, which will include IAAB staff, in order to create a professional and open environment. The Summit aims to create a dialogue that will explore the individual and organizational leadership role in both the Iranian-American community and the greater American community. Furthermore, the Summit provides an opportunity for students to learn from those who have successfully led and utilize their expertise to build practical leadership and communication skills.
As a non-political and non-religious conference, the Student Summit is open to all races and all creeds. Applications are open to all current university students and can be accessed through the registration page.
The cost of the Summit is $35 and includes room, board, and transportation from the hotel to Geroge Washington University. After October 15th, the registration fee will increase to $50. Applicants who do not pay the $35 registration fee at the time the application is submitted will not be considered. Applicants who have submitted the deposit and are not accepted to the Summit will be refunded the deposit.
